Welcome traveller, fantasy enthusiast, nosy neighbour, and general acquaintance to Forever and Everfall. The one-stop shop for all things set in the World of Everfall! If this is your first time swinging by, then you may, no doubt, be wondering what you’ve stumbled upon here. What is Everfall? Who is this masterful writer, Karl D Smith? Why on earth was I directed here in my search for clothing apparel for tall people? (Evertall, get it?) Well, allow me to answer a few of those questions…
Where did Everfall come from?
Everfall was created seventeen years ago as the setting for a local Dungeons & Dragons (fourth edition, ugh) campaign I ran. It featured a gathering of close friends and was played in between the monotonous drone of early adult life and college. The campaign ended about two years later, but the world continued to grow with more games, more people, and it even became a thriving community of gamers over time. While I have a hunch that they were drawn more towards the generic fantasy western style rather than the setting itself, the stories told in Everfall have stuck with me, and continued to develop as I’ve grown more mature with my writing.
Who am I?
I’m Karl D Smith and I’ve been working as a writer professionally for the past five years. I’ve been to university, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing, went on to earn a Master’s Degree in English, and I’ve been working as a Ghostwriter and Copywriter to keep the lights on and save myself from abstract poverty. I love writing, but above all, I love narrative. Stories about deep characters with personal motivations. Fascinating twists that even a seasoned author couldn’t see coming. Books that explore the fantasy genre in interesting and new ways. I enjoy all these concepts along with works from great authors like Joe Abercrombie, George RR Martin, JRR Tolkien, Robin Hobb, Ursula K Le Guin and a cavalcade of others. All have been an enormous inspiration for this blog!
What can you find here?
So, Forever and Everfall is first and foremost a blog featuring novels set in Everfall. I want this to be a great place for people to explore. To learn more about the books I’m writing, and even get involved in the conversation through community interaction. If you decide to stick around, you can expect to find a few things. Weekly chapters for the series I’m writing. Progress Updates detailing my various struggles and successes with writing. Short stories, and much more!
Although I can’t help you find any tall person apparel (that joke is trash and I know it), I do hope you’ll stick around and explore. This all began with a D&D game I started as a way to tell stories with my friends. Now I’m pleased as punch to be sharing those stories with you.
